State-Based Mode Switching with Applications to Mixed-Criticality Systems

چکیده
We present a new graph-based real-time task model that can specify complex job arrival patterns and global statebased mode switching. The mode switching is of a mixedcriticality style, enabling immediate changes to the parameters of active jobs upon mode switches. The resulting task model therefore generalizes previously proposed task graph models as well as mixed-criticality (sporadic) task models, and further allows for the modeling of timing properties not found in any of these models. We outline an EDF uniprocessor schedulability analysis procedure by combining ideas from prior analysis methods for graph-based and mixed-criticality task scheduling.

On the Safety of Mixed-Criticality Scheduling
A common assumption for scheduling mixedcriticality systems is the degradation of less critical tasks when the system is in the emergency mode; which is entered when critical tasks overrun their expected WCET. In the meanwhile, common safety standards enforce strict safety requirements on all criticality levels. However, the impact of degrading less critical tasks on the overall system safety i...

This paper addresses control design in networked control system by considering stochastic packet dropouts in the forward path of the control loop. The packet dropouts are modelled by mutually independent stochastic variables satisfying Bernoulli binary distribution. A sliding mode controller is utilized to overcome the adverse influences of stochastic packet dropouts in networked control system...
متن کاملMixed-criticality scheduling with memory regulation
The state-of-the-art models and schedulability analysis for mixed-criticality multicore systems overlook lowlevelaspects of the system. To improve their credibility, we therefore incorprate, in this work, the effects of delays from memory contention on a shared bus. Specifically, to that end, we adopt the predictable memory reservation mechanism proposed by the Single Core Equivalence framework...
متن کاملDOL-BIP-Critical: A Tool Chain for Rigorous Design and Implementation of Mixed-Criticality Multi-Core Systems
Mixed-criticality systems are promoted in industry due to their potential to reduce size, weight, power, and cost. Nonetheless, deploying mixedcriticality applications on commercial multi-core platforms remains a highly challenging problem. To name a few reasons: (i) Industrial mixed-criticality applications are usually complex reactive applications, which cannot be specified by traditional, e....
متن کاملSchedulability Analysis of General Task Model and Demand Aware Scheduling in Mixed-Criticality Systems
Nowadays, the embedded systems are undergoing an unprecedented trend towards integrating components or tasks of different criticality levels onto a common computing platform, as the task integration can reduce the “SWaP” (Size, Weight, and Power) related costs. Those systems, commonly referred to mixed-criticality systems, consist of functionalities with two or more distinct criticality levels,...
